The 71st Tulpenrallye

In 1948, Maurice (Maus) Gatsonides, the Netherlands’ most famous rally driver at the time, had spoken to French Simcar driver Marc Angelvin after an Alpine Tour Rally. Over a glass of fine wine, they discussed why no international rallies had yet been held in the Netherlands. Gatso brought up that there were no mountains in the Low Countries to run rallies. Angelvin then said that you could drive anywhere from the Netherlands and that the Tulips could be a nice symbol for a rally. In 1949, the Regional Automobile Club West (R.A.C.-WEST) organized a Rallye des Tulipes. The basis of the rally was in France, hence the name Tulip Rallye with an e at the end.

Now, we are on the eve of the 71st Tulpenrallye, which has been running since the first edition in 1949 and will be run from May 4, 2025.

The 71st Tulpenrallye starts on Sunday, May 4, 2025, in Nice on the Côte d’Azur (France). The approximately 200 participating teams come together here for the opening drinks and dinner on the beach of Nice.

On Sunday, May 4, the participating teams can do a practice ride, Autour de Nice, where everyone can get used to the map material, the systems used, etc. This ride is also well suited to fine-tune cooperation within the team. This practice ride is not mandatory; it is free, and there are no results.

The first race kilometers will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, after which the rally will move more or less along the eastern border to the North. Near Luxembourg, the rally turns towards Brussels (Belgium), where the 71st edition of the Tulpenrallye finishes on Saturday, May 10, 2025. In 6 days, the teams, with cars built before 1975, covered more than 2,300 kilometers.

Registration opens on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at 10:00 AM and, if there are sufficient registrations, closes on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 8:00 PM. The provisional list of participants will be published on December 15, 2024, at 8 PM.

Take your time to register correctly and please add current photos. All registrations from November 17 UNTIL December 7, 2024, count equally. If lots have to be drawn, this will be done between all registrants except those who have a guaranteed starting spot (see regulations).
